Mr. Benny James Tillman was born in Louisville, AL to George and Pauline Tillman. He moved from Louisville AL at an early age to Dothan AL. Mr. Benny James Tillman relied on God and his own strong abilities to breakthrough barriers with his tenacious drive. This drive helped him to create a historic milestone as he would become the First Black supervisor at the Swift Acid Plant located in Dothan AL. He affectionately influenced others around him to unlock their potentials. Mr. Benny James Tillman lead with true dedication and a persistent relentless high quality work ethic that exemplified high level skills. Mr. Benny James Tillman paved the way for many that would thereafter follow in his relentless phenomenal footsteps. Mr. Benny James Tillman was a phenomenal patriarch to his personal family and the younger generation in the Acid Plant Hill and Lakeview communities. He held a high accountability to inspire others to strive for obtainable concrete assets. Mr. Benny James Tillman stood tall and fought through it all. He was our hero.

Mr. Benny James Tillman was joined in holy matrimony to the late phenomenal Johnnie Mae Vickers Tillman and to this union there was a legacy of children born and united. He was preceded in death by his parents George John Tom Tillman and Pauline Jackson Tillman; his wife Johnnie Mae Vickers Tillman; his bonus children Charlie Murry, Leon Murry, Joyce Dickens, Malcolm Gibson and Herman Daniels; his granddaughters Stephanie Weatherington-Gadlin and Joanne Butler; a great grandson Kenley Boley; his siblings, Annie Jewel Tillman, Jeweline Dunlap Smith, George Tillman, Leroy Tillman Sr., Johnny Tillman and Jerry Tillman.

He leaves to cherish his remarkable memories, his loving children, Benny Earl Daniels, Cassandra (George) Bass, Linda (Jerry) Skipper, Melissa Tillman, Terry (Tarra) Tillman, Dennis (Tora) Tillman, Paula Tillman Scott and Jaquaveon Tillman; his bonus children, Lisa Weatherington, Janice (William) Mullins and Roger Gibson; his adored, loving baby sister, Willie Ruth Reynolds and a very special cousin/sister, Ruby Lee Terry; a legacy of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
