Bernice H a n d s f o r d
As we celebrate the life of our Beloved sister, aunt and friend to many, Ms.
Bernice Handsford. She was born to the late Willie Eunice Morrison and
Alline (Nook) Morrison in Gordon AL on June 17, 1951.
She received her education in Gordon, AL and then relocated to Newark New
Jersey where she resided for 30 years. She then moved back to Dothan Al,
where she retired from Wesley Manor, and later became a great caregiver to
her late father.
Bernice was well known for her joyful and outgoing spirit. She was a lover of
grooving to her favorite old school music hits where she would surely be the
life of the party.
She received Christ as her Lord and Savoir at an early age and loved to teach
and spread the gospel of Jehovah. She was a firm believer and faithful servant
of the Lord and showed his love to others. Bernice would share God's
goodness at anytime she had the opportunity to do so.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Willie
Earl Morrison and Charlie Morrison, one sister Dorothy Overstreet, brother-
in-law Otis James Girtman Jr and special friend Terry White.
She leaves to cherish her six sisters: Doretha Platt, Dothan AL, Jewel Parrish,
Newark NJ, Pearlean (Eddie) McGriff, Lakeland FL, Mary Girtman, Dothan
AL, and Demetha (RL) Patterson, Dothan AL. A special nephew Tom
Overstreet Dothan AL, a special friends Maxine Lewis, Alexisa Bostick
(Extendicare Health Center), Rosa Grace (Extendicare Health Center) and a
host of other nephews, nieces, friends, and family who loved her dearly.
