Doris L. Akins

Doris Akins, 72 passed away peacefully on July 27, 2024 in the comfort of her home. She was one amazing inspirational woman. Doris was born May 19, 1952 to the late Louise Smith and Henry Clark.

She married her husband Mr. James Akins on May 20, 2006 and created some of her best memories with him. 

Doris loved to sing and also enjoyed cooking and fishing. 

Doris’s family and church were her two biggest passions. 

Doris was a woman of grace and dignity. To know, that even one life breathed easier because she lived, is to know she truly succeeded while here.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Henry Clark and Mrs. Louise Smith; a brother, Mr. Richard Clark; a sister, Ms. Judy Clark and an aunt, Ms. Betty Chapman.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving husband, Mr. James Akins; her children, Leroy (Lashay) Nelson, Tasha Copeland, Jeremy Lewis, Billy Clark, and stepson James (Crystal) Blackmon; grandchildren, Anesia Cousins, Devonta Johnson, Jeremy Lewis Jr., Jeremiah Lewis, Rachel Copeland, Isaiah Lewis and Jayda Lewis; great-grandchildren, Daemon Johnson, September Cousins and Bryston Cousins; a best friend, Barbara Valdes and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
