Mrs. Elsie “Monk” Wimes was born on January 11, 1932 to Edna King Oliver and Angus Oliver in Barbour County.

Mrs. Wimes was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Ashford Alabama.

Mrs. Wimes was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Angus Oliver and Mrs. Edna King Oliver; her husband, Mr. Arlee Wimes; daughter, Mrs. Patricia Oliver Lynn; great-granddaughter, Melanie Mitchell; sisters, Ludie Jackson, Sue Ford, Deloris Baxter, Connie Oliver and Linda Jackson.

She leaves to cherish her memories forever, her sister, Lillie Harris; brothers, Eddie Oliver and Angus Lamar Oliver; stepchildren, Freddy (Linda) Wimes, Vera Dawsey, Bobbie Wilson, Erma Wimes; grandchildren, Darron McGhee, Leonard McGhee, Catina McGhee, Quan McGhee; great grandchildren, Chris Lampkin, Shaketa McGhee, Derek McGhee, Derek McGhee, Brandon McGhee, Tamika Lynn, Shanika Lynn, Leonard Mitchell, Ebony Godwin, Destiny Durr, DePravion Walker, Kareem Craig, Reakwon McGhee, Royce McGhee, Reagan Campbell, Kailah Lemons, Anlandria Debose, Kierra Grider, Nia Lewis, Icies Solomon and Izayah McGhee; twenty great great grandchildren; five great great great grandchildren; special family, Bonita Mike and Davehoun Mike; a special friend, Barbara Stowers; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relative and friends. A very special group of friends at Rose Hill Senior Center of Dothan.
