Mr. Jerry Jerome Floyd, 59 of Dothan, passed away on Thursday December 15, 2011 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.      The funeral service will be held Wednesday December 21, 2011 at 12 noon at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Headland, AL with Rev. Delvick McKay officiating.  Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery with military honors and Unity Funeral Home directing Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5-7 P.M. at Unity Funeral Home.      Jerry began life on December 1, 1952 in Headland, AL to the late Buford and Inez Floyd. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He was a loving and giving man. His great sense of humor and joking personality put a smile on many faces and happiness in many hearts.      He began his education in Henry County School system and later moved to Dothan City School system. Jerry joined the U.S. Army and continued his education and established his military career. Upon retiring from the army, he returned to Dothan where he served the community as a mentor to at-risk young men under the direction of Mr. Frank Reese. He also was an employee of Dothan City School system as a ISS instructor and a substitute teacher.      His loving memory will be cherish by his son Detriot Floyd Muhammad; two granddaughters Malia and Kalia Relford of Omaha, NE; sister Mae Floyd Hudgens; brothers James (Carolyn) Floyd and Robert Floyd of Dothan Ezzie Charles Floyd of Montgomery; special niece Amiah Bell; caring friend Wanda Reese; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
