Kenji Mendez Snell
Kenji Mendez Snell was born on April 7, 1982 to his parents, Mr. Eddie C. and
Mrs. Yolanda Snell. He is a proud graduate of Ashford High School, Class of
2000.
He accepted Christ as his personal savior while serving as a young child at
Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Ashford, Alabama, where he remained a
devoted member until his transition on May 4, 2024. He has now accepted
God’s call and joined arms with his dear mother, Yolanda Ann Cochran Snell,
as she welcomed him with open arms to join her in Heaven.
His favorite scripture is “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and
the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 5:10.
He is survived by a host of family and friends who love him dearly: His father,
Eddie Charles Snell, I; two sisters and two brothers: Brandy Snell Julius of
Montgomery, Alabama, Eddie Charles Snell, II (Lya) of McDonough, Georgia,
Cornelius Snell of Marianna, Florida, and Nekelda Snell of Dothan, Alabama; a
special great-aunt, Gussie Cochran of Ashford, Al; a very special aunt, Melissa
Glasgow of Cowarts, Al; seven uncles: Bobby Snell, Patrick Snell (Lori), Willie
Snell, Charles Snell, all of Naples Fl. Floyd Snell of Indiana, Roy Daniel Snell
of Rochester, NY, Lonnie Cochran (Annie) of Dothan, Al; eleven nieces and
nephews: Briaunna Julius, Kelsey Snell, Kennedy Snell, Tracey (TJ) Julius,
Nikholas Snell, Cornelius Snell, Calaysiah Snell, Nathaniel Snell, Zy’ion Snell,
Zy’Layia Snell, Nakayla Snell; and several cousins including a close one,
Robert Cochran of Cowarts, Al. Kenji also had a host of classmates, neighbors,
community members, church family, and friends which includes a very best
friend from childhood until his passing, Joy Saffold.
He is preceded in death by his loving mother, Yolanda Snell; and his
grandparents, Willie Bell Cochran, Lonnie (Slim) Clark, Jessie and Bertha
(Coot) Snell.
Kenji had a bright, kind spirit who brought joy to all who had the pleasure of
meeting him. His influence and presence will be deeply missed by his family
and friends. Through the wonderful memories he shared throughout his
amazing life, his spirit and love will live on.
