Mattie Pearl Wilbon was born September 12, 1947 to the late John T. Whatley and Charlie Bell Whatley. She departed this Earthly life on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
Mattie attended Junior High School. She accepted Christ at an early age of life attending Hines Chapel A. M. E. Church.
Mattie Pearl Wilbon was a well known and respected woman. She was not a stranger to hard work. Mattie Pearl retired from Perdue Farms and spent most of her days being a wonderful wife of 52 years, raising her 4 children and spending lots of time with her grandchildren. She loved her life to the fullest.
Mattie Pearl enjoyed shopping, cooking and maintaining a beautiful appearance every time you saw her. Her smile would light up the room. She had a special way of making everyone feel loved and welcomed. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, stories and precious memories.
Mattie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Willie wilbon and her parents John T. Whatley and Charlie Bell Whatley; a sister, Mandy Marie Whatley; two brothers, Hubbert Whatley, Joseph (Wink) Whatley, and a brother-in-law Danny James.
She leaves to cherish her memories four children, Sue Whatley, Dennis Whatley, Earnestne Nwachukwu and James Whatley; grandchildren Christopher Whatley, Shawanda Whatley, Brandy Whatley, Tiffanie Whatley, Demeka (Edwin) Flowers, Jasmine Nwachukwu, June and Jessica Nwachukwu, Dominic Rich, Marissa Whatley, Aja Whatley; a special great-granddaughter Ambernik Whatley; her siblings, Alfonso Whatley, Raven Whatley Sr. (Linda), Mae Liza James and Princess Whatley; and a host of great-grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, relative and friends.
