Marcus Kenneth Henry was the first-born son to Oliver Henry Jr. and Beatrice Henry on October 20, 1959 in Dothan, Alabama.
At an early age, Marcus accepted Jesus as his lord and savior. He was a member of Burdeshaw Street Baptist Church. He attended Northview High School where he met his high school sweetheart Kay Starling. He would later received a football scholarship to Alabam State and graduate a graduate from Northview in 1979. He and Kay later married and and had four lovely children.
Marcus began his career working for the City of Dothan Leisure Services in 1980. He managed the city's recreation centers withn the comunity for 25 years until his retirement in 2005. After he retired from the City of Dothan, he then worked at Southeast Health in Environmental Services until 2019.
Marcus was well known for his sports and athletic coaching skills. He was passionate about landscaping. He also had a passion for guiding the youth and standing in the gap for many. He was 62 years old.
He is preceeded in death by his parents (Oliver and Beatrice Henry), his wife Laurie Henry, his daughter Charlotte Patrice Henry, his grandparents on his father's side (Clem and Charlotte Henry), along with his grandmother on his mother's side (Ethel Thomas). His brother Oliver, his uncles (Henry Thomas and James Thomas) and his aunts (Minnie McClendon, Ada Pearl Stewart, and Doris Kennedy) are also reuniting with him.
He is survived by his sons: Marcus (Irish) Henry, Markeevis Henry, daughter: Brittney (Mike) Bennett all of Dothan, Alabama. Grandchildren: Neveah, Keyshawn, Mariya, Miyonnah, Makiya, Madison, Shaniya, Austin and Justin Henry, Brent and BrysonBennett, Kaiden and Maniyah Henry. Aunt: Earlene Bharath of Miami, Florida. Siblings: Renetha Johnson, Gloria (Karey) Godwin, Rhonda (Herman) Ardis, Ronnie Henry, Michael (Martha) Henry, Tammy Hill. Special friend: Brenda Henry. Best friends: Simmie Walker, Jack Smiley, Nameth Scott, Ronnie Wheeler, David Moses. Host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
