He was preceded in death by his parents: J.C. and Donnie Mae Ward; three sisters: Linnie Holt, Elma Phifer, and Annie Merle Dumas.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Brenda Powe Ward; two sons: Cedric Ward of Dothan, AL and Andrew Dunlap of Enterprise, AL; one daughter, Doris Flournoy of Dothan, AL; one stepdaughter, Sybil (Leopold) Djengue; six grandchildren; three sisters: Mary Williams, Luretha Gatlin, and Elizabeth Bryant; one brother, Roger (Barbara) Ward and a host of other relatives and friends.
