Sylvester Lee Russell, known as “Syl” was born in Dothan Alabama on June 6, 1959 to the late Annie Pearl Butts and Charles Frank Russell. He resided in Dothan Alabama until his death on October 6, 2025.

Sylvester worked for Barrentine Fish Market for 25 years. He begin Church at Bethesda Apostolic Church under the leadership of Pastor Roy White and the later attended Seven Stars Holiness Church under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Russell. His final place of ministry was Secret Place of Worship under the leadership of Pastor Tyrone Leonard Sr.

Sylvester touched the lives of many people he came across speaking the gospel of the Lord. He loved fishing, eating and shucking oysters, singing and random visits to family and friends just to show his love.

He is preceded I deaths by his wife, Ronnie Gayle Russell; his mother, Annie Pearl Butts; father, Charles Frank Russell; 2 brothers, Chris Floyd and Jerome Russell; his sister, Daffany Floyd; grandparents, Beulah (Jimmie) Butts and a stepdaughter, Angel M. Welch.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his 5 daughters: Tiffany Gullege, Yolanda Russell, Neena Bonds, Sharon (Clinton) Thomas and Dietra (Kavon) Howie; 2 sons: Sylvester Bone and Christopher Russell; grandchildren: Niesha, Tisha, Qynesha, Kameisha, Porsche, Justin, Brian, Robert, Ayanna, Tyler, Diamond, Anthony, Jamarcus, Angel, Chris Jr. and Christina; 24 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Helen (Tyrone) Leonard, Tiffany Floyd; 3 brothers: Charles Russell, Kenneth (Annette) Russell and Sammy Floyd; a special aunt Minnie Butts, Aunt Ruby Register; uncles, Robert Butts and Willie Laster and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
