Willie Jewel McCrory

Willie J. McCrory was born February 23, 1933, in Gordon Alabama. She was the daughter of the late JC McClendon and Eva Mae Westley (McKinney). She was baptized at an early age and attended St. John’s Baptist Church.

At the age of 18, she left home to see what the world had to offer. In 1952 she was married to Sammie L. McCrory in Haines City, Florida.  She was a woman who was not afraid of work and always held two jobs to support her family.

She met no strangers and loved to make people laugh. She cared deeply for her family and often gave them words of wisdom. She always had a willing heart to help others. She accepted Christ in her adult life and was a member of North 8th Street Church of God in Reading, PA, where she served on the usher board for many years.

Upon retiring she returned to Alabama to care for her mother. She then joined Trinity Baptist church where she served for many years. She also worked as a foster grandparent at Ashford Elementary School for 5 years. It was rewarding for her to impact the lives of so many young people.

When her health began to fail, she relocated to Massachusetts to reside with her daughter Ellen and her family. This is where she lived for the last 12 years. In her last days, she began to show signs of Alzheimer’s, however through it all she never lost her faith in God. She would faithfully ask God to forgive her and give her a home in glory when this life is over.
